What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit our website. They allow the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size, and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don't have to re-enter them each time you return to the site or browse from one page to another.

How We Use Cookies and Browser Storage

Our website uses cookies and browser storage technologies to enhance your user experience and provide our services. Below we explain the different types of storage technologies we use:

These are essential for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services.

2. Authentication Token (localStorage)

We store your authentication token in your browser's localStorage. This is required to keep you logged in after authentication and to ensure secure access to your account.

Stored Data:

  • accessToken - Your encrypted authentication token (JWT)
  • refreshToken - Token for automatic session renewal
  • user_data - Basic user information for faster loading
  • preferredLoginMethod - Your preferred login method (password or email code)
  • ibki_consent - Your cookie consent preferences (Cookie, 1 year)

Note: The token is valid for 180 days and is automatically renewed.

We store your language preference so that the website is displayed in your preferred language.

NEXT_LOCALE - Stores your language selection (de/en)

5. Local Database (IndexedDB)

Our web app uses IndexedDB (a browser-internal database) for local storage of presentation data:

PresentationDB - Stores presentation slides and related data locally in the browser for faster loading times. Deleted upon account deletion or manually via browser settings.

Real-time Connections (WebSocket)

Our application uses WebSocket connections for real-time communication. This technology enables:

  • Live transcription during presentation recording
  • Real-time feedback on your speech analysis
  • Instant session status updates
  • Interactive training environments

WebSocket connections are only established when you are actively using application features and are automatically disconnected when you leave the page.
